I can't DM you since you left the server (if you ever do visit again please pop in and DM me as I would love to stay in touch). I just want to say that I always look forward to your lovely kind posts, helpful advice, and just a thoughtful view of the world in general. You'll be missed on the server. Good luck and all the best. And if you ever want to collaborate on a potato chip quantum VN please count me in :) All the best.
I was happy to finally be able to play this game and am interested in your other games as well! Great work on the jam! I love the character model you got and the music is fitting. The story was unexpected so I like that as well!
Ohh, this didn't go in the direction I thought of but it is quite interesting! I'm curious about MC and their lineage since they seem to be "aware" to some extent what the woman is but not completely knowledgeable. That and what the woman said about their "unfortunate lineage" so it seems like MC's family is some sort of monster hunter? If so, then is the grandfather a sort of monster collector then? I'm so curious but I love the story!
I think you'll be happy to know that this concept is being reworked into a fuller game for Spooktober Jam and should be out by the end of September! Hopefully, it will sate some of your curiosity.
:DDDD I'm so excited!! Ohh goodluck to you! If it's anything like Marbles I'll be so stoked because that one had me so surprised at the end even though I knew exactly how it was going, I just got lost by the progression. I'm so looking forward to MC (no pressure seriously!) and I'm excited to see more of this world you've created! Goodluck again (oh, but do remember to take breaks for your well-being)!
I guessed that perfectly the moment I saw the character. That was a fun game, it was short but told a lot, visuals are awesome, would erase my memory to play again.
I conceive I ALMOST CHILLED my VEIN as the spider alike woman appear in the second stage of appearance.
I am curious to see if the harmful unknown monsters have harmed the player's grandpa's grave or planned to harm mother (someone else or something they were finding for very dreadful and needed to destroyed).
I like the writing and the visuals and much of the setup, but I have to admit there's one aspect that didn't work for me at all. <Spoilers follow, of course.>
The endings--I went through it twice, once letting her go, once killing her--make it clear, when the protagonist is on the phone to their mother, that they're fully aware of what the woman in the basement is, why she's dangerous, what kind of threat she poses. Before that, though: I think it can be very interesting to play "what the character knows" against "what the player knows", but the protagonist seems to make it clear that they don't know who she is. "There's no way my grandfather kidnapped some woman"; at one point they literally say to her, "What are you?". And that didn't work for me at all. If the character doesn't want to tell the player everything they know, that's fine, but ultimately the protagonist seems to know exactly what she is, and having them act in ways that suggest they literally don't know--until the end--felt like a bait and switch to me.
I was attempting to word it in a way that would make the player assume that the main character doesn't know anything in the first place, but then with a second playthrough have the words have a different meaning.
"... some woman" is a leading statement for suggesting she isn't just a normal person and the "what are you?" standing on the legs of 'I know you're /something/, but I'm not sure what.'
I did the same with her suggesting something to the player. I'm not sure if you got that dialogue, but it goes along the lines of her offering the concept of "being beyond" to the player which could suggest her giving an actual gift of power or making the player go into the great beyond~.

Very good points!

But I admit, I'm not the best at word play! Pft!
Thank you for enjoying what did work for you!
Hey there-- just thought I'd let you know my girlfriend checked your game out; her first visual novel. She enjoyed it!
